It’s now officially Fall!  Time to get out your cozy sweaters, ponchos, and boots and mix up this spiked holiday sangria recipe to enjoy while sitting by a fire.  I love the smell and colors of Fall.  And this cocktail recipe combines many flavors of the colder months.  This recipe is also great to serve up for the winter holidays!

Spiked Holiday Sangria

Simple, Red Spiked Sangria made with simple methods and just a few ingredients. The perfect fruity beverage that’s adaptable and delicious!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1.5L bottle of sweet red wine (Sweet Red Blend by Barefoot)
  • 1.5 – 2 cups brandy – enough to cover the fruit
  • 1 can of seltzer or carbonated water (try one with a hint of lime)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4 navel oranges
  • 4 gala apples
  • 1/2 lbs. red seedless grapes
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 lime
  • 2 cinnamon sticks

Instructions
 

  • Peel and dice the oranges, core, and dice the apples, and cut the grapes in half. Then slice up the lemon and lime and save half of each for garnish – set aside in a ziplock bag.

  • Marinade all the cut fruit (only a few lemon and lime slices – keep the rest aside) in a large bowl with the brown sugar, brandy, and cinnamon sticks. Let sit overnight in the fridge.
  • The next day, remove the lemon and lime from the marinade and add your sweet red wine to the brandy. Make sure you have a large pitcher.

  • To serve: put some mixed fruit and sangria in a glass with ice and use the slices of lemon and lime to garnish. Enjoy!
