The unofficial start to summer came this past weekend. We spent time outdoors on our deck getting our flowers planted, and the deck furniture cleaned up, and we sat outside and enjoyed our fire pit with family a few times! While prepping our yard I came up with a few tips to create an outdoor living space.

Plants
In addition to our garden, we are growing strawberries, tomatoes, lettuce, and herbs in pots on our deck. I love looking out my kitchen window to see the beautiful colors blooming along the deck and the yard.
The kids really wanted to take part in beautifying our home with flowers this year. They even wanted to spend their own money to buy more flowers! I love that they appreciate the home that they live in and want to make it look nice.

I am in the process of creating my yard. It is fun shopping for new items for the yard.
I love the area rugs that you can put on a deck. I just worry about moisture getting under the rug and rotting out the wood.
