Drugstore Products for Mature Skin

Drugstore products for mature skin

Now that I’ve turned 50 years old, I decided that I want to start taking preventative measures to slow the signs of aging.  I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg to get decent skincare products, so I did some research (thanks TikTok) and found some great drugstore products for mature skin.

Here are the products that I am using right now to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity.

Night Serum

Every night I remove eye makeup with eye makeup remover that removes makeup easily so I am not rubbing the skin around my eyes too hard.  Then I wash my face with a Cetaphil cleanser for sensitive skin.  Sometimes I will use the astringent along my T-zone if my skin is experiencing breakouts.

Next, I break open a night serum capsule and massage the oil into my face and neck.  It’s a lightweight oil that absorbs into the skin nicely.  I chose this product because from my research it is made with a high concentration of pure RoC Retinol and bio-derived antioxidant.

I also like this product because it does not irritate my skin.  The product description says that the exclusive pure RoC Retinol accelerates the removal of old, dull surface skin cells, revealing fresh, new ones for vibrant & healthier-looking skin.

The purpose of using a night serum is to TREAT the look of fine lines and loss of elasticity. It will also visibly firm my skin and smooth fine lines to address collagen-depleted skin for a renewed appearance.  As we age our skin becomes thinner, loses fat, and no longer looks as plump and smooth as it once did.

Under Eye Cream

I hate the look of tired, dark bags under my eyes.  Even when covering it with concealer, it sometimes makes it look worse.  I’ve been trying to find the perfect eye cream that doesn’t burn the sensitive skin under my eyes.  But I also want an eye cream that is rich in moisture.

After I wash my face each night and morning I apply the eye cream.  I also make sure I put it on before my moisturizer.  I usually dab on the eye cream, apply my body lotions and deodorant while it absorbs, and then I will apply my moisturizer.

I use this eye cream because it targets the look of fine lines and wrinkles around my eyes.  It also addresses three signs of eye aging: puffiness, dark circles, and crow’s feet.

Daily Hydration Anti-Aging Daily Face Moisturizer

This moisturizer contains hyaluronic acid, something I’ve been using more of lately to keep my skin hydrated.  It’s the last step in my nightly routine.  This cream moisturizes and rejuvenates the skin with deeply hydrating retinol and hyaluronic acid cream.  It is formulated to visibly reduce fine lines and hydrate skin for up to 24 hours.

I apply the moisturizer as the last step in my nightly routine and as the second step in my morning routine.

Do You Use Products for Mature Skin?

I am not opposed to getting Botox or some really good skin tightening tape. But I also don’t see that in my near future. Have you had it done?  Do you like it? I’d love to hear what you use to help keep your skin looking young, smooth, and fresh!

Don’t Forget Your Sunscreen!

With the month of May right around the corner, and the month to bring attention to skin cancer awareness, I need to stress the importance of using sunscreen on your face all year round.  I use makeup that has sunscreen in it so that I am protecting my skin.
